The Preschool Curriculum

The curriculum divides children's learning and development into 5 areas. Technotots adds a 6th area to the curriculum in supporting our technology based environment. These areas are:

Emotional, Personal and Social Development
Communication and Language
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Expressive and Aesthetic Development
Physical Development
& Computer Play

Emotional, Personal and Social Development

A child's emotional, personal and social development are the building blocks of a sense of
worth and belonging; and influence how they relate to, and interact with the world around them. Technotots children are encouraged to share toys, take turns, and make their own choices as their awareness of the world around them grows. They will grow in confidence and gain a sense of independence and freedom as they learn personal care skills.

Communication and Language

Children will learn to recognise the link between the written and spoken language through story telling, singing and early writing. They are also encouraged to ask questions, make suggestions and predictions as they develop their vocabulary, everyday phrases and sentences and so build the language skills that will help them communicate in the different relationships around them.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Children's natural curiosity will be stimulated as traditional nursery methods and computer technology complement each other. Working closely with adults, and with each other, various projects will be explored such as seasons, growth, festivals and senses.

Expressive and Aesthetic Development

Art activities, role-play and music are available each day to stimulate the children’s creativity. Painting, dressing up and dancing are all part of Technotots balanced
curriculum. The children express themselves freely through puppets, dedicated computer software and drama.

Physical Development

Opportunities are provided for the children to throw and catch ball’s, knock over skittles, climb up and down the climbing frame, jump and balance as they test their emerging and constantly changing physical and mental abilities. Colouring in, writing
and computer play provide valuable fine motor skills. Physical play provides a release whilst offering freedom during supervised free play.

Computer Play Programme

Computer technology in the Pre-school adds a valuable resource for the children’s development. All Technotots children have new opportunities for learning and education when e-toys and computer technology are available alongside traditional nursery activities like arts and crafts, sand, water, music, and imaginative play.

Pre-school children are given the opportunity to learn through play, using educational software programmes, which help to build self-esteem and confidence, by giving
instant results.

Babies and toddlers benefit from a variety of colourful exploratory toys. Heuristic play alongside e-toys, develop important sensory skills and hand - eye co-ordination.
